Large Cuts Coming to Health Care, Rural Hospitals and More
After the 2026 elections, more cuts will happen. This involves health care, housing, food aid restrictions on SNAP, clean energy projects and other Federal programs. Starting this summer Indivisible North Quabbin will focus on a campaign to educate ourselves and others about these possible cuts.
We begin with Healthcare. Seven Days in June (61-6/7) is a coalition that is doing over 100 actions to educate people about the $1 trillion cut from our
healthcare safety net, delaying the pain until later this year. Many of these cuts will be activated after the November election. Stripping money from basic care and helping keep rural and small town hospitals can be deadly. We must speak up and stand out.
The Indivisible North Quabbin Stand Out will focus on healthcare on Sat., June 6 from
11-12noon. Health is primary. Bring a sign that focuses on Healthcare and the cuts. We will have signs to share. A few ideas for signs include:
- Care Over Cuts
- Stop Cuts to Health Care
- Fund Healthcare // Not Warfare
- Protect Medicare and Medicaid
- Healthcare Not Warfare
Watch for future forums, speakers and other activities this summer/fall on Healthcare and other cuts related to issues that serve people.

Immigration Legislation in MA --
The Protect Act is in a Conference Committee that has met twice to work on the differences between the House and Senate Bills. Call you legislators to urge passage this session.
What Is Happening with Voting Rights? The Supreme Court has ruled that Alabama may use a congressional map that had been determined to have intentionally discriminated against Black voters – the conservative court’s latest redistricting decision that benefits Republican efforts to hold on to a narrow U.S. House majority in the midterm elections.
What Is Happening with Delaney Hall in New Jersey? Delaney is federally funded and privately run for profit. GEO Group, ICE’s single largest contractor, received a $1 billion contract from ICE to run it. It has 1,000 beds and can hold that number of people. It is the site of a hunger and work strike by detainees. You can learn more about what is happening from Ezra Levin in a 5-6 minute video at https://ezralevin.substack.com/p/what-to-do-about-delaney-hall
A Bit of Good News --
What is Happening with War Powers Act?
The House of Representatives passed a war powers resolution aimed at limiting President Donald Trump’s authority regarding the conflict with Iran by a narrow 215–208 margin on Wed., June 3rd.
