Location & Parking – Use One Court Square, Orange to locate park if needed.  There is parking in Courthouse lot and across the street.  Please do not park on So. Main from Depot St. to E. Main St. where businesses are open.

Standing with Our Neighbors  --If you are able, please bring Non-perishable Food Items and Personal Care Items.  The FCCMP Van will be present to help with this collection for 2 local food pantries.

Join us at Memorial Park to Stand with Neighbors.  If you are able, please bring Non-perishable Food/Personal Care Items to the Rally.  Your donations of food and personal care items will benefit local food pantries (Orange and Athol).  The FCCMP Van will be present to help with this collection as we come together for mutual aid and Neighbors Helping Neighbors in the North Quabbin region.

September 13^th at 10 a.m.: – Join the Steering Committee at the 1^st Universalist Church (next to town hall – use side door) if you are interested in helping plan for No Kings Day on Sat., October 18^th.  We need people to help plan and carry out a plan for Oct. 18^th.

We hope to have a big event like the one on June 14^th but need help in planning, making sure it happens, and also brings a lot of people to the event.  We should be going live on the Indivisible/No Kings Mobilize site in the next day or so.  So let’s get to work on making the Indivisible North Quabbin October 18^th event a success.

Stand Out on Sat., September 13^th from 11-12noon at Memorial Park (So. Main and Water St.) in Orange.   

The Working Groups are starting to do activities such as Peacekeeper training, outreach, voting projects, and getting more communication going.  But we need more help with these projects.  See the attached ideas written up from the August 30^th gathering at the park.  If you have an idea you want to work on, let us know and Steering Committee members will work to get some others to help.  See https://nqindivisible.blogspot.com/.

There are also several other activities happening in the region on Saturday.   Some people are setting up an outreach tent at Old Home Days in New Salem from 10-3 p.m.  Stop and help or just visit people at the tent.  At 7 p.m. at the UU Church in Amherst there is a benefit concert for the Pioneer Valley Workers Center and all are invited (donations accepted for PVWC).  See https://www.indivisiblewestquabbin.org/.

Steering Committee at Memorial Park - Aug 30

 Saturday, Aug. 30th, the Steering Committee will meet at Memorial Park.  We ask that you join us at 10:15 for a discussion and brain-storming. There will be a brief report on working groups before discussion.  Questions for everyone to consider:

·       What are we doing right?  What is bringing you here to Stand Outs?

·       What else do we need to do besides a weekly Stand Out?

We hope that many people coming to Stand Outs will attend.  If you cannot attend, send us your ideas.  The Steering Committee meets every Sat. starting at 9:30.

 

Wednesday, August 27:  SUPPORT ALL OUR NEIGHBORS information and action meeting. 5:30-6:45 (doors at 5pm), Gardner’s Levi Heywood Library, 55 W. Lynde St. Updates on immigrant justice in the region, learn more about current projects and how you can help. Groups include All Are Neighbors (AllAreNeighbors@yahoo.com), Gardner Immigration Circle, LUCE, MIRA, BIJAN, Immigration Law, etc.

 

Sunday, Sept. 14, 3 - 5:30 pm: Ground Avelo: Cancel ICE Air Standout, Bradley International Airport. Route 75 Overpass over Route 20 just outside Bradley Airport, 66 CT-75, Windsor, CT. Indivisible North Quabbin, likely FCCPR, Indivisible Northampton Swing Left Western Mass and others are co-sponsoring. Avelo, a commercial airline, is contracted with ICE for secretive deportation flights—flights with no guarantees of due process or legal counsel. There is organizing nationwide to force Avelo to cancel its ICE contract and to ask airports, including the Connecticut Airport Authority, to cancel their Avelo contract and refuse to cooperate with illegal deportation. We'll hang two huge banners on the Route 75 overpass just outside the airport. People can also contact the CT Airport Authority and tell them to cancel their Avelo contract: Admin (860) 292-2030; ctairports.org. 

Indivisible North Quabbin News – Now is the time for Next Steps

 Join together for Stand Outs and Also think about ways to do more!

 

The Orange Stand Outs will continue each Saturday from 11-12noon (next one is Aug. 16th)  We continue to have about 80 people in attendance at Stand Outs.  Thank you to everyone who attends and helps make these peaceful events.    This is a non-violent action that helps to increase visibility and hopefully get new people to join us.  It also gives us  a chance to talk to neighbors as we plan to do more.

On Saturday, Aug. 30th, the Steering Committee will meet at the park at 9:30 and everyone coming to Stand Outs is invited to attend and bring their ideas about going forward and getting more people involved in doing more.  The Community Outreach & Self-Sufficiency Working Group will be at the 4^th Friday event in Athol on August 22^nd, and the Rapid Response Network Town Coordinators will meet on August 29^th.  Other working groups are doing research and starting to plan possible public forums for the region.  If you want to help with any of these projects email us at indivisiblenorthquabbin@gmail.com or see https://nqindivisible.blogspot.com.

One Million Rising and Community Resistance Gatherings in August – part of building a strong National Movement.

You can be part of helping organize small gatherings with neighbors and friends about resisting what is happening now in this country.  You can attend a gathering in the North Quabbin or plan one of your own small gatherings.  The goal is to “grow community connection, resilience and resistance” (from Indivisible.org and One Million Rising Host Guide –  also see www.nokings.org/rise for recorded trainings, host guide for gatherings and other info).

At all Indivisible North Quabbin events -- de-escalate by refusing to shout, argue or react aggressively.   Many people who Stand Out each week feel that we need to do a better job working to de-escalate confrontations and figure out better ways to have inclusive and nonviolent Stand Outs.  We should feel proud that 80-90 or more people are present every week.  The Indivisible North Quabbin Steering Committee of eleven people needs everyone’s help who attends Stand Outs.  Talk to a new person about the work of Indivisible and our work to organize non-violently on many fronts including at all Stand Outs.

ONE MILLION RISING FOR STRATEGIC NON-COOPERATION - NEXT SESSION TONIGHT.  If you cannot attend they are recorded.  Find another person at the Stand Out who is working on small gatherings of neighbors and friends in the coming month. What Trump is doing is dangerous. But it is not new or unique. We’ve seen authoritarians consolidate power in other countries, and we can learn from what people there did to fight back. The One Million Rising initiative is holding seminars throughout the summer, preparing local leaders to launch community resistance groups that will engage in this vital work. Here’s how we can join:

Other Events in Region

Saturday, August 2 starting at 1:45 at Silver Lake in Athol --  MassDems Chair Steve Kerrigan will arrive around 2 PM.  Bring a chair if possible.  Everyone is invited to see what the Democratic Party is doing. Questions welcome to find out what is happening.

Saturday, August 2nd, from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Amherst Town Common -- a reading of a re-written Declaration of Independence to demand true freedom  for all. This event is organized by five youth activists, and co-sponsored by Youth Climate Action Now, Feminist Generation Amherst, and Representative Lindsay Sabadosa.  Join this event and support the youth organizers.
